Paying Homage to Honda
Seated on the wall, with his tandem and Mark Oglesby's Kreakcea, is Ray Fenwick paying homage to Honda. The story behind the Great-God Honda all starts with Ray's brother, Graham. When Graham was about 14, he spied an old battered Honda-50 that someone had dumped in the drain. He enlisted the help of his brother Ray, and his friend Adam to spend two hours dragging the damn thing out of the drain and up the embankment, so he could wheel it home where he parked in the shed. His intentions were to fix it up (it was certainly in no fit state to pass its MOT) and use it, to probably race up and down the track with his mates and generally show-off.
After several months of it lying in the shed, smelling of oil, petrol and stagnant water, they wheeled it back to the drain and dumped it back in, paying their last respects.
So, everytime we pass the drain, we stop and pay homage to Honda. (Sad, isn't it?)
