Windows provides a selection of patterns and pictures to be used as wallpaper or background.

There is the option to either display the image as Tiled, Centred or Stretched: Common sense will dictate which one will look right.

It is also to browse for a different picture should you not like the ones supplied.

However, some of the images supplied are either JPEG or GIF format and therefore you'll be asked to view desktop as a web-page.

The advantage of this is that you can use a HTML or web-page as your background, and even configure it to update whenever you access the internet.
